MEATH CHISTIAN CENTRE
The
key scripture verse for our Church fellowship is Haggai 2:9. It is
as follows:
"The glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of hosts."
OUR HISTORY
When Mrs. Irene Rennicks from Flowerhill, Navan gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1950 she could not have possibly understood where her submission to the Lord would lead. She opened her home to the 'Christian Character Crusade' mission and the rest as we say, is history!
This history includes the purchase of property in the townland of Liscarton near Navan in 1951. The purpose of this was to build a 'Mission Hall'. But a long legal battle for planning permission with the County Council ensued and only the crucial intervention of the then Taoiseach on the side of the 'Crusade' won the day. In 1955 the new Hall was erected and the 'Crusade' held regular Meetings in it until 1985 when the leader Mr. James Hogan passed away into Cod's presence. In 1987 the property and Hall passed into the hands of the Elim Pentecostal Church in Ireland. A Pastor was installed in 1988 (Richard Mawhinney) with the view to planting a Church.
As important as the site itself, was the scripture Haggai 2:9. This was also passed on from the 'Crusade'. This was their vision for the future, a new hall, a new day, a greater glory.
THE LATTER HOUSE
It took the Crusade 4 years of Battle to see the Hall built. It was to to take us a similar length of time. In 1994, with a Church fellowship group well established, we began to seek planning permission to replace the old Hall. It was to be 1999 before we had our new building erected and only the knowledge that the victory was already ours, in the Lord Jesus, kept us going.
We decided Cod wanted us to walk by faith so we did not get a loan, mortgage or overdraft. Only at the end did we need a small loan which was cleared in a year. The most serious problem we are facing in the new millennium is one of space. Our new building is now full and we are having to consider expanding again, so watch this space for the next 'latter house.'
The Church
Our Church is located in Co. Meath, which is in the east of Ireland. The County town is Navan, and the Church is situated just outside the town on the Dublin-Enniskillen road. Navan is the commercial centre of the County with a population of over 35,000 people and rising. It is situated at the convergence of the rivers Blackwater and Boyne and its traditional industries are furniture and carpet manufacturing. In the late 1960's lead and zinc deposits were discovered close to the town and today we have the largest mines of its kind in Europe.
OUR
AREA
Meath's other towns of note are Kells and Trim. These are designated heritage towns and attract large numbers of tourists in the summer Other tourist attractions are, the Hill of Tara, where the High Kings of Ireland are reputed to have ruled from in ancient times, and Newgrange, an ancient 'temple' or 'burial mound to do with the pagan worship of the Sun. Ireland.
Today, has 4 provinces but 1000 years ago it had a 5th, Meath. It extended from the river Shannon to the Irish Sea and was ruled from Trim by the Normans. This fact is remembered today by an unusual sculpture as you enter Navan from the Dublin direction. This history honours Meath as The Royal County' and it's sporting teams are called 'The Royals'.
OUR VISION AND PURPOSE.
These concepts are very often intertwined and even unfold before us as time itself unfolds. Our vision and purpose continues to develop as we as a Church grow and mature. So what we already nave is simply a stage of Cod's unfolding plan for us (Jeremiah 33:3).
The first or 'foundations] phase' has been fulfilled with the erecting of our new church building It entailed establishing a new Centre for Christian witness with the structures that go along with it.
The second is our 'Growth Phase'. This is to build a worship Centre to hold 300+ people and see the multiplication of ministries within the Church.
Third will be the 'Spreading Out Phase'. Here we see Cod planting out from us, Churches throughout the County of Meath and a significant development of the 5- fold ministry with this church explosion.
In
a nutshell our vision has 3 parts.
First the Church is a 'Bridge for people to cross over to find and reach their destiny In God
Second we are to be an 'Example' In life and faith for others to model and emulate.
Third, the church is to be a 'Resource', a we for others to draw from.
As a matter of a fact we believe the Elim Movement nationally will have the ear of people in high office in years to come.

OUR STRUCTURE.
Everything we are is based around one word 'Partnership'. When anyone joins Meath Christian Centre they do not become a member but a Partner. This is a partnership in our relationships, vision and purpose and is based on the story in Luke 5:1-11. The flow in our church moves out from our leadership structure.
Again leadership is exercised in three primary areas:
