Eden Hill

A place of Rest

(How to get to us?)

Eden Hill is a late 19th century house just a few minutes from the centre of Sligo town. The main house operates as an Irish Tourist Board Independent Holiday Hostel whilst the old stables at the rear of the house are used by Sligo Elim Church.

Our History

The building was purchased in December 2001, and although it was being run as a hostel at the time it was in a completely run down condition. Des and Nathalie (members of the Church) took on the running of the hostel and set about with great enthusiasm to transform the building. Over the following months general tradesman, church members both locally, and from afar were seen coming and going at all hours of the day and night, painting, replacing beds, refurbishing the kitchen and toilets which had previously been unusable until the hostel was once again able to open its door and welcome visitors to its warm and hospitable atmosphere. Visitors come from all over the world and our vision is as from Acts ch2 ' Where people came from all nation's, heard the gospel and took it back to their own lands' At the back of the hostel in the courtyard some of the old buildings have been transformed into the meeting place and home for the church, this also has facilities upstairs for young people, plus kitchen and toilets. n the last few months a committee of people from the church has been set up to help with the running of the hostel. Kevin and Glennis Darby have moved from England to warden the hostel. The hostel is open to the public, backpackers etc and to any church group who want to get away for a weekend or week break in which case both church and hostel facilities would be available for use.
