Below is the account of how Jesus taught his disciples to pray as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. We will use this as a template for our prayer time with God. First read the passgae below aloud. When it comes to the actual prayer lets spend some time thinking about what we are saying. Although you may find the reflection below helpful it is not meant as a blueprint. It is only designed to help you ask questions of yourself and your realtionship with the Father. If you don't know the answers to some of the questions, don't panic. Ask Him, He does! This is not a test and you don't have to answer all of the questions (in fact you don't have to answer any of them). Just take your time and do what Jesus tells you:
Close the door
turn the stereo off
turn the lights down ...

5 “And now about prayer. When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I assure you, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father secretly. Then your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you. 7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, because your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this:
